MTV Artists Platform
The MTV Artists Platform was created to let artists claim their own page and give the opportunity to grow a larger fan base. Artist can connect to social networks (Twitter, Facebook), upload photos, audio tracks, and music videos. Users can discover artists by genre, popularity or how they are emerging. The site has merged with the former MTV Music Meter to determine artist ranking positions. Fans can also discover artists from collections based on MTV/VH1/CMT shows, and MTVs Artist To Watch campaign. Artists also get opportunities to have their music videos featured on MTV, MTV Hits, MTV Jams, MTV2, MTV Hive (Indie Music Blog), and MTV Buzworthy, along with their sister channels VH1, and CMT (country artists only).
According to the Mashable website, the MTV Artists Platform was developed to allow artists who did not have an MTV profile to generate their own content.
